Obituary of Charles Seed

At rest with his Lord, Rev. Charlie Seed beloved husband, friend and companion of Joyce (Gibson) passed away on May 19, 2012. He will be sorely missed by his children Wendy and Bob of Toronto; Charles Jr. , London and Kim and Ian, Guelph; step children Ed and Debbie, Strathroy; Kathy and Lyle , Kelowna B.C. and Jim of Strathroy. Charlie was very proud of all of his ten grandchildren, Donald, Michaela, Heather, Brittany, Breanne, Lauren,Kara , Drew, Lauren and Sarah. Surviving also is a sister Evelyn Crossan and several nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his wife Renita (Brown) and infant daughter Christine. Born in Strathroy, Charlie worked in the grocery business for Jervis Food Stores, then opened his own business , Charlie's Superior Market at the corner of Carroll St. and then Highway 81. Upon closing that business he went to work for Zehr's store in Kitchener, and then to Hanover. While in Hanover, he followed a life long dream and went into the ministry of the United Church of Canada. The family moved to Maxwell while Charlie attended university in Toronto through the week and preached at four churches as their student Minister on the weekend. On his ordination in 1982 Charlie was settled in Drumbo. From there he moved to charges in Otterville/Springfield; Stratford and finally Innerkip/Eastwood. While in Stratford, Renita passed away with cancer. In 1999 Charlie retired and moved back to Strathroy where he and Joyce renewed many old friendships and made many new ones. Visitation will be held at the Strathroy United Church at the intersection of Maria and Front St. Strathroy on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm where funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 23, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Don Keenliside officiating. Cremation to follow. Donations in memory of Charlie to the Strathroy Hospital Foundation, Canadian Bible Society , Mt. Brydges United Church or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
