Abby , Michael let me know about the death of your grandmother and I wanted to write to you and express my sadness. It has been so difficult for you to see your grandparents leave the farm and go into a nursing home and to see them fail in body and memory over the last few years. It is especially hard now to know that your parents are the next generation that is left as your whole life has revolved around your family and farm.That is why now it will seem so odd that all of those family gatherings with your grandparents must be cherished in memory until you meet them again in heaven. It makes us understand that death was never God's idea .When I lost my grandmother who was my last grandparent I felt very empty inside.I did not want her to stay and suffer but she was the one person and place which was safe for me. I really liked your grandmother.She always had a smile and kind word for me. I saw her last at the retirement home just before I went to Ireland. I am glad that she no longer is alone without your grandfather but is enjoying eternity now .For that we can have joy.As we remain faithful to join them someday too!! Thinking of you and your family and sending you love from Dublin on the day of my mother's death 41 years ago. Mary Lee
