Obituary of Pieter van Dam

Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, on Monday, February 3, 2014, Pieter van Dam of Strathroy passed away in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Nelia (nee Timmers) for 65 years. Loving father of Chris Ten Pas (Ben) of Brussels, Bertha Askes (2004) (Henry and Ruby Askes) of Jerseyville, Johanna Jurjens (Gerry) of Shakespeare, Peter van Dam (Joanne) of Lucknow, and Nelia Schalk (Frank) of Strathroy. Cherished grandfather of 22 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his grandson Jason van Dam (2000). Visitation will be held at Providence United Reformed Church, 447 Second Street, Strathroy on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., where the Funeral Service will also be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Harry Zekveld officiating. Interment in Friends Cemetery, Coldstream at a later date. In memory of Pieter, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Pieter.
