Obituary of Jerry Michael Thompson

Jerry’s last race is over and he has climbed his last set of stairs to the far blue yonder. It is with profound sadness that his family announces the peaceful passing of Jerry Michael Thompson, in his fifty seventh year, after a long hard fought battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by the Love of his family. Jerry is survived by his mother Helen (Lewis) Thompson, his siblings Judy (Terry) Morgan of Centralia, Bev (Kris) Thompson, Lori Thompson, Cathy Thompson, Darryl (Tammy) Thompson all of Ailsa Craig. He will also be deeply missed by his niece and nephews Mark Morgan, Melissa and Brian Acton, Shawn Thompson, friend Jess, Jason Thompson and fiancé Cayley, and Matthew Thompson. Great- nieces and nephew Lexi and Mikaila Acton, and Logan Thompson are saddened deeply by Jerry’s passing. Jerry is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins of the Thompson and Lewis families and by many friends and coworkers. Predeceased by his father Gerald Thompson (1996) and long-time friend and business associate Earl Ross (2014). Jerry was passionate about three things, his work, racing and his family and could be found many weekends at Grand Bend and Delaware racetracks. He also followed Nascar and Cascar faithfully and liked to cheer on and support the boys in hockey, ball and racing. The family would like to thank Dr. Perrant, Dr. David McDonald and Dr. Nancy Naylor as well as nurses Patti and Alex and all the C.C.A.C caregivers and PSW’s, especially Shirley. Also thanks to Kevin, Kim and Jackie who were always there at our beck and call. Visitation will be held at Denning’s of Ailsa Craig (171 Main Street) on Tuesday July 28th, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Wednesday July 29th at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior at the Ailsa Craig Community Centre with casual attire. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Brain Tumor Foundation or charity of your choice.
